A More Personal Approach to Midlife Care
Expert guidance, meaningful conversations, and care designed around the whole woman.
Meet Nikoletta Tarkan, NP
Nikoletta Tarkan is a board-certified nurse practitioner with more than 17 years of experience caring for women across all stages of life.
She completed her nursing and master’s degree at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, along with advanced training in menopausal hormone therapy through Monarch Health Clinician Academy. She has built her career around a simple but important principle: women should feel informed, supported, and actively involved in their healthcare.
Her work with women in midlife inspired her to create Gaia Women’s Wellness—a practice where appointments feel personal, questions are welcomed, and treatment considers far more than a single symptom or lab value.
Nikoletta’s approach brings together evidence-based medicine, hormone support when appropriate, metabolic health, medical weight management, nutrition, movement, sleep, and lifestyle optimization.
She takes the time to understand not only what a patient is experiencing, but how those changes are affecting her life. From there, care becomes a collaboration: clear, individualized, and designed to evolve.
Gaia brings that philosophy into a modern model of virtual care, making it easier for women to receive consistent, personalized support throughout midlife. Based in Newburyport, Massachusetts, Nikoletta provides virtual care to patients in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Florida.
Why Gaia?
Rooted in Strength
Originally from Greece, Nikoletta chose the name Gaia as a tribute to her heritage.
In Greek mythology, Gaia represents the Earth—the source of life, strength, and nurturing. Those ideas became a natural foundation for the practice: care that is grounded, supportive, and centered on helping women feel strong in the bodies they have now.
Gaia Women’s Wellness brings that philosophy into a distinctly modern approach to women’s health.
Our Care Philosophy
Listen First
Your experience matters. We begin with your symptoms, your history, your concerns, and what you want from your health.
Look at the Whole Picture
Hormones are important, but they are rarely the entire story. We consider the interconnected factors influencing how you feel.
Think Beyond Today
Feeling better matters. So does protecting your strength, metabolic health, cardiovascular health, bone health, and overall well-being for the years ahead.
Beyond Gaia
Nikoletta lives on the North Shore of Massachusetts with her three children and their Bernedoodle, Piper. A fitness enthusiast and adventurer at heart, she appreciates a great iced latte, staying active, and making the most of life outside the office.
That same perspective shapes her philosophy at Gaia: good health should give you more freedom to enjoy your life—not become another thing that consumes it.
